A drone flew about 200 feet above a Virgin America flight that was landing on a runway at Love Field Airport in Dallas on Tuesday night, the Federal Aviation Administration said on Wednesday.According to a statement from the FAA, Flight 769 from New York s LaGuardia Airport to Dallas was about a mile and a half away from the runway when the pilots reported seeing a quadcopter drone with red and green lights.The first officer reported that it appeared the drone was on the ground at first but the the lights went straight up and above the airplane approximately 200 feet above the aircraft while on approach, according to the FAA statement. A spokesperson adidas campus for Dallas Love Field said that police notified the tower that the plane observed the drone at about 1,200 feet while it was passing over the Cr stanley cup escent Hotel. The drone was in the downtown Dallas area and not in Love Field airspace, the spokesperson said.The plane landed safely without having to maneuver around the drone, the FAA said. No other details were immediately available. A California man was arrested Thursday after allegedly opening the emergency exit of a plane that had just landed at a Chicago airport and sliding down the wing, CBS Chicago reported. Randy Frank Davila, 57, has been charged with reckless conduct, according to Chicago police.The Chicago Police Department said Davila exited the airplane at approximately 4:37 a.m. on Thursday before walking onto the wing of the aircraft and jumping onto the airfield. Police said he was taken into custody without incident and charged with the misdemeanor. He will appear in court on June 27.The charges come as unruly passengers continue to disrupt flights, with some even trying to open doors mid-flight. In February, an American Airlines flight attendant had to hit a man with a coffee pot after he tried to open the passenger door mid-flight. DAYTON, jordan Ohio -- A southwest Ohio sheriff says two white deputies accused of exchanging racially charged text messages on their personal phones have been put on leave, and three more officers are under investigation.CBS affiliate WHIO reports the deputies work for Montgomery County Sheriff Phil Plummer. He says they tarnished the office by sending messages that included racial slurs and jokes and comments directed at two black deputies. That might violate the department s code of conduct.Plummer says the messages were sent between November 2011 and January 2013, sometimes while the deputies were on duty. Dayton NAACP President Derrick Foward says an anonymous source provided the texts to the civil rights organization in August, and it investigated the messages authenticity before bringing them to the sheriff s attention last week.Jason Matthews, an employment attorney, told WHIO that even though the text messages were private, the deputies jobs could be in jeopardy because the sheriff was made aware of the texts.
