The number of people being treated for COVID-19 in Haltons hospitals almost doubled in the past week.There are currently 51 people in Haltons four hospitals being treated for COVID-19, up from 26 the same time last week. Of those 14 were admitted for COVID-19 with the remaining 37 being admitted for other reasons but later testing positive for COVID-19.The number jumped significantly between Dec. 11-13, going from 30 to 52 over those two days. That matched the highest number of people being treated for COVID-19 in the regions hospital since the first days of March. ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW The regions hospitals remained over capacity at 108 per cent for acute care beds. Intensive care unit bed capacity rose to 74 per cent, up from 65 per cent the previous week. The region also reported four deaths over the past week, three in Oakville and one in Milton.
