Three white men serving life in prison for murder after chasing and killing Ahmaud Arbery in 2020 returned to court Thursday to ask a judge for a new trial.Attorneys for Greg McMichael, his son Travis McMichael, and their former neighbor William Roddie Bryan began making a range of arguments for a new trial, from a tainted jury to ineffective counsel for one of the men. Superior Court Judge Timothy Walmsley, who was the judge in their 2021 murder trial and handed down their sentences, set aside up t stanley nz o two days to hear their legal motions.The McMichaels armed themselves with guns and jumped in a pickup truck to chase Arbery, a 25-year-old Black man, after they saw him run past their house on Feb. 23, 2020, in a subdivision outside stanley tumbler the port city of Brunswick. Bryan joined the pursuit in his own truck and recorded cellphone video of Travis McMichael firing shotgun blasts at close range into Arbery, who fell fatally wounded in the street.Travis McMichael s attorney, Pete Donaldson, told the judge Thursday he plans to present test stanley cup imony showing one of the trial jurors concealed his bias in favor of the Arbery family when he was questioned during jury selection.Donaldson said the man, identified in court only as juror No. 380, was interviewed by a private investigator working for the defense team in 2022. ABBOTT PARK, Ill. 鈥?As the coronavirus continues to spread and the need for more testing grows with it, labs across the U.S. are racing to get approval for their tests for COVID-19. The company Abbott is one of them. Abbott was able to get an emergency use authorization for a new tes stanley website t, molecular test for the SARS-coronavirus-2, said John Hackett, Jr., the Divisional Vice President of Applied Research and Technology at Abbott. Researchers inside their Illinois lab created a test that can be used with the companys testing system, called m2000 RealTime. Thats key because the company says that system is already widely available in hospitals and testing labs around the country. These are in hospitals and academic centers and this is where the test volume is, Hackett said. The speed in regulatory approval from the FDA for the test was unprecedented. The company said that, normally, it can take several years to get a test approved; this one happe stanley polska ned in a matter of weeks. Their testing system can run through 470 patient tests per day. This is a massive impact when you think about trying to get results back to the physicians, Hackett said. This is actionable information - either a person s infected or they re not. About 150,000 tests are now on their way to hospitals and labs in 18 states 鈥?including New York, California and Washington 鈥?some of the hardest hit by COVID-19.
