Follow @SportsChatt Chattanooga s going to get hotter, but not as brutal as a few states west.In the Midwest and Great Plains, roosters have died, cattle have lost weight and ran stanley cup chers have been sweating it out in one of the hotter summers in recent years.Temp stanley bottles eratures from Illinois to Kansas have hit 100 degrees in the last week and, with the added humidity, the heat index has risen to 115 degrees in some places across the Midwest.The heat wave is expected to move this way, but Chattanooga might not face the same problems.While Chattanooga will reach temperatures in the 90s, it s not quite as intense as it is out in the plains, in the Midwest, said Chris Austin, a meteorologist with WRCB-TV Channel 3.Through Friday, temperatures will be in the mid- to upper 90s, and the added humidity will make it feel like it s about 105 degrees, according to a National Weather Service forecast.Anything above that will trigger a weather service warning for people to stay inside and drink more water, according to Tim Doyle, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Morristown, Tenn.By Saturday, though, highs will be down in the low 90s, and by next Wednesday early morning temperatures will drop as low as the mid-60s, keeping the humidity lower throughout the day. Photo Gallery Kidnapping charge A judge on Monday dismissed a kidnapping charge against a former Chattanooga police officer and sent his remaining sexual battery charge to a grand jury after a preliminary hearing.Hamilton County General Sessions Court Judge Lila Statom ruled prosecutors didn t meet certain elements of kidnappin air max 1 g - one of two charges that Benjamin Dessalines faced after a 21-year-old woman and Army veteran told law enforcement that he drove her to his apartment after a theft citation on Nov. 8 and fondled her without consent.Statom said she based her decision on a portion of the woman s testimony: that Dessalines didn t physically force her to go inside his apartment or get into his car. Dessalines defense attorney, Rebecca Stern, elicited that response during a cross-examination. As a result, Statom said, she was only sending a sexual battery charge, a Class E felony, to the grand jury. CLEVELAND, Tenn. -- The Bradley County Board of Education is amending its policies to add another layer of safety against unwanted electronic messages to children. We are putting language in our policy about s stanley water bottle exting, board member Christy Critchfield said at Thursday s board meeting. Sexting is sending sexually explicit text messages or photos between cell phones. We are putting this language in here so our employees know how we feel about it and so parents and students know how serious this is and that we will not allow it in Bradley County stanley mugs schools, Critchfield said.But the board is not stopping at updating its written policies. We are also going to educate our children on what it is and what we will allow and not allow, Critchfield said. Children can t help what they receive on cell phones, but if they retain it or pass it on, that is something they can control. Students who are caught with inappropriate material will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Staff members could face punishment up to firing.Director of Schools Johnny McDaniel said sexting is occurring at all levels of the school system, even at the elementary level. Last week, the Cleveland Board of Education approved the same policy for city schools.Recently, the county district attorney s office asked city and county schools officials to implement some type of policy wording.
