Press ReleaseWASHI stanley us NGTON - U.S. Senator Bob Corker, R-Tenn., today withdrew his appropriations requests for fiscal year 2011. I realize I am one junior senator in the minority, but given our country s fiscal condition, I could not in good conscience keep my name next to any earmark requests this year, said Corker. It is not necessarily the overall cost of federal earmarks, which represents a very small portion of the overall budget, that poses a problem; it s the process, which is fundamentally flawed and lacks oversight. In a letter to the chairman and vice chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee today, Corker wrote, After further serious consideration I have decided not to make earmark requests this year. Please consider this letter as a withdrawal of all of my requests for congressionally directed spending for the fiscal year 2011 appropriations process. insticator-wrapper {order: 2;} klangoo-wrapper {or stanley cup der: 1;} div[data-widget-id= rel_325-4 ] {display: block;} div[data-widget-id= rel_325-3 ] {display: none; stanley quencher } div.rc-desktop {display: none;} div.rc-mobile {display: block;} @media min-width: 40em { insticator-wrapper {order: 1;} klangoo-wrapper {order: 2;} div[data-widget-id= rel_325-4 ] {display: none;} div[data-widget-id= rel_325-3 ] {display: block;} div.rc-desktop {display: block;} div.rc-mobile {display: none;}
