A Georgetown school has been entrusted with a piece of Canadas history.Christ the King Catholic Secondary School CtK was selected to receive 75 tulip bulbs to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Netherlands liberation from Nazi occupation by Canadian troops.The local institution is one of 1,100 schools across the country chosen to recognize the pivotal moment in the Second World War. ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW Canadians are fondly remembered by the Dutch as both liberators and saviors who rescued millions from sickness and starvation in 1945, said Lindsay Cheal, department head of Canadian and world studies at CtK. A tulip bulb planting ceremony was held at the school on Nov. 14, with Mayor Rick Bonnette, local MP Michael Chong, Royal Canadian Legion members, school staff and students taking part.
