How to Destroy a Helldivers 2 Shrieker Nest from Safe Distance
#1
Few optional objectives in Helldivers 2 can derail a clean Helldive run faster than an unmanaged Shrieker Nest. If your squad approaches blindly, the sky instantly fills with aggressive, fast-moving aerial Terminids that dive-bomb players out of nowhere.

The most efficient way to deal with this threat is simple: map management and raw math. By understanding the aggro radius of these structures and deploying the right anti-tank weaponry, you can level the entire nest without dodging a single flying bug.

The 130-Meter Trigger Line
Shrieker Nests usually generate on higher difficulties (Challenging up to Super Helldive) as a cluster of 2 to 3 glowing, mushroom-like spires. Mechanically, each individual spire has a substantial health pool of 2,500 HP and is reinforced with Light-to-Medium armor.

The golden rule of handling these structures is the 130-meter boundary. Shriekers remain completely dormant inside their structures until a Helldiver crosses within 130 meters of the nest. To execute a clean clear:

Use the Minimap Ping: Open your radar and place a manual waypoint directly onto the heavy red objective marker representing the nest. The UI will display an exact real-time distance readout.

Maintain Distance: Plant your feet at roughly 140 to 150 meters away. At this range, you can clearly see the tops of the spires rising above the landscape, but the AI trigger remains inactive.

Long-Range Sniper Breakdowns
Because the spires possess standard 2,500 HP pools, support weapons with sufficient structural penetration can destroy them across the map. Rather than spending premium warbond currency to alter your primary loadout—though if you are short on premium currency, it is easy to find sites like U4N where you can buy helldivers 2 super credits cheap—you can rely purely on standard anti-tank Stratagems.

+--------------------------+----------------------------+------------------------------------------+
| Weapon Choice            | Shots Required per Spire  | Operational Notes                        |
+--------------------------+----------------------------+------------------------------------------+
| GR-8 Recoilless Rifle    | 2 Rockets                  | Best choice for immediate, rapid clears.  |
| EAT-17 / Commando        | 2 Rockets                  | Highly efficient; low cooldown fallback. |
| AC-8 Autocannon          | 9 Explosive Rounds        | Requires accurate hits to the cap.      |
| LAS-98 Laser Cannon      | ~12.5 Seconds Continuous  | Unlimited ammo utility; requires tracking.|
| M-105 Stalwart / Primary | Immature (Immune)          | Standard bullets bounce completely.      |
+--------------------------+----------------------------+------------------------------------------+
If you are using the Recoilless Rifle, a single Helldiver carrying a supply pack can fire 6 rockets in under twenty seconds, neutralizing a maximum-sized 3-spire nest from 200 meters away before the bugs even figure out where the shots are coming from.

Close-Quarters Assault Alternatives
When heavy rock geometry or rolling fog completely blocks your long-range line of sight, you will be forced to push inside the 130-meter danger zone. Avoid using the standard NUX-223 Hellbomb here unless absolutely necessary; the interactive arming process takes too long while swarms are slicing your back, and ground bugs will actively target the bomb to destroy it before the countdown hits zero.

Instead, rely on high-impact, burst-damage orbital and aerial stratagems:

Eagle 500kg Bomb: Dropping this dead-center between a tight cluster of spires can wipe out 2 or even all 3 structures simultaneously with its vertical blast radius.

Orbital 380mm HE Barrage: If you encounter multiple nests clustered close together, chuck a 380mm beacon into the middle of the area and sprint in the opposite direction. The 30-second bombardment will flatten the entire objective zone.

Eagle Airstrike: While a single line of bombs rarely destroys a whole nest, it deals roughly 40-50% damage to multiple spires if the approach vector cuts straight across the formation.

Survival Protocols When Swarmed
If the nest triggers and a swarm of 10 to 15 Shriekers takes flight, drop everything and adjust your defensive positioning immediately.

Go Prone Instantly: The dive-bomb flight pathing of a Shrieker relies on specific tracking angles. If you dive flat onto the ground or crawl into a shallow crater, the bugs will consistently miss their swoops, flying harmlessly a foot above your head.

Clip the Wings: Do not aim for the central torso. Shriekers only have 20 HP on their wing joints. High-rate-of-fire weapons like the LAS-16 Sickle or wide-spread shotguns like the SG-225IE Breaker Incendiary can clip a wing tip with a single stray pellet, killing the bug instantly.

Beware the Dead Weight: When you shoot down a diving bug, do not stand still. Dead Shriekers preserve their entire forward kinetic momentum. A 150-pound falling bug corpse traveling at high speed behaves like a solid projectile and will instantly crush a fully armored Helldiver for a one-shot kill. Always sidestep immediately after securing a mid-air kill.
