Much like the civilian version, it's available in three roof heights, three lengths, and two wheelbases. However, this van can also be customized to include single, double, or triple prisoner-transport inserts.
Once you've pulled over, wait for the engine to cool before popping the hood to check things out. Opening the hood immediately can put you at risk of burns or injuries from spewing steam or smoke. Patience is key. Wait until the engine temperature gauge settles before opening the hood.
Now you know what to put in gas tank to ruin engine. Not only these liquate or ingredients can destroy your car engine, but there are various things; if you put them in the gas tank, the car engine will be finished. So, you must be careful about all of these ingredients I talked about earlier.
Not only will doing this shorten the life of your engine and use up more gasoline, the wear and tear you cause your starter will double if you're using it twice as often. You're probably also shortening the life of your battery by draining it more.

Your vehicle’s cooling system relies on a thermostat near the engine to determine when to send out coolant to regulate the engine’s heat. So, if you have a malfunctioning thermostat, the entire system can be thrown out of balance. If the thermostat fails to detect high temperatures, it will hold up the flow of coolant, and your engine will overheat. On the flip side, if the thermostat has failed and is allowing coolant to flow constantly, your engine will have a hard time getting to operating temperature. The best way to avoid this is with regular cooling system maintenance, including coolant fluid exchanges as per manufacturer recommendations.
To achieve this, it is important to consider the following:

Fluid Dynamics : Consider the flow of air, fuel, and exhaust gases within the engine. Optimize the intake and exhaust systems to minimize restrictions and maximize airflow. This will enhance the engine’s power output and fuel efficiency. Combustion Chamber Design : Pay attention to the design of the combustion chamber. Optimize the shape and size to promote efficient combustion and reduce emissions. This will result in better fuel economy and lower environmental impact. Heat Management : Ensure that the engine design includes effective heat management systems. Proper cooling and lubrication are essential to prevent overheating and premature wear of components. This will improve the engine’s reliability and longevity.
If your car smells like burning oil , check for low engine oil levels or a transmission fluid leak immediately. Low oil levels can lead to engine damage and increased friction. A transmission fluid leak can contaminate and cause the odor. Overheating might result from oil leaks onto hot parts or a faulty coolant system. A valve cover gasket leak can be identified by visible oil leaks around the cover. A malfunctioning PCV valve can also cause the smell. Regular checks and prompt repairs are essential. Understanding these causes can help you address the issue and keep your vehicle running smoothly.

Squeeze a moderate amount of the trim restorer on a plastic bowl. Grab a detailing brush, dip it inside the bowl, and brush the solution to all plastic and rubber trim, including hoses, sockets, and above the plastic engine cover (when applicable). However, avoid applying the trim restorer on drive belts to prevent slipping and squeaking after starting the engine. Allow the trim restorer to cling for 5–10 minutes before wiping off the excess with a clean microfiber towel.

Rotary engines, also known as Wankel engines, are a departure from the traditional piston-based internal combustion engine. They feature a triangular rotor that rotates within a housing, creating a unique combustion cycle. This design offers several advantages, such as a high power-to-weight ratio and a smoother, more balanced operation.
Detergent or Soap can attach to oil or water that is nearby. When detergent or Soap is mixed up with oil, oil slowly gets thick, it doesn’t lubricate well, and it cannot transfer well to heat in the car engine system. When fuel cannot transfer an efficient amount of heat to the car engine, the car Engine would not work properly.

Photo: More cylinders mean more power. 1) White: A 4-cylinder, 48hp Morris Minor engine from the 1960s. This engine is so incredibly tiny, it really looks like there's something missing—but it can still manage a top speed close to 125 km/h (80mph). 2) Red: A huge V12 Jaguar XJS sports car engine from the mid/late 1970s gives a top speed of about 240 km/h (140 mph). It's something like 300hp (about six times more powerful than the Morris engine). Apart from the number of cylinders, the engines also differ in their cylinder designs. The Morris engine is "undersquare," which means it has quite narrow (small-bore) cylinders that push the piston a long distance (stroke). The Jaguar engine is "oversquare," with wider cylinders whose pistons don't push so far. These terms are explained more fully below.

In addition to thermal management during driving, the liquid system also protects the battery during charging, especially when fast-charging on a DC charger. All charging creates heat, but the extra load of fast-charging can make a lot of it – including in the charger itself, which circulates its own coolant through its charging cable to regulate its temperature. The vehicle monitors its battery’s temperature during charging. If the cooling system isn’t doing enough, the vehicle will reduce its charging rate to bring down the temperature, especially if it’s a hot day. The battery will take longer to charge, but it’ll be better protected.

High-Revving Operation : Rotary engines thrive on high-revving operation, with the optimal range being around 4,000-5,000 RPM and above. Avoid prolonged low-RPM driving, as this can lead to increased oil consumption and premature wear. Smooth Throttle Control : Rotary engines respond best to smooth, progressive throttle inputs. Avoid sudden, jerky throttle movements, as this can put unnecessary stress on the engine components. Redline Runs : Periodically bring the engine all the way up to the redline under load to help clear any carbon buildup and maintain optimal performance.

Most car engine are not that big. Even V6 blocks can be pretty small (barely over a cubic foot). So most tables made out of a single engine block are small, or at least smaller than I wanted: these table are 3 feet long, 4 max. 6 cylinders inline engines are about 2 feet long, but very narrow. So when you set out to buy one, make sure to measure it and then factor in how youre going to rest or affix the table itself on it: an engine block is not necessarily flat.

Buy a can of aerosol rust penetrant and a can of spray white lithium grease. Start by soaking the latch mechanism with the rust penetrant. If you can’t open the hood at all, slide the spray straw into the grille and aim it up toward the latch. Then shoot about a half can of lube onto the latch. Let it soak for an hour. If it opens after that, move on to the next step. If not, repeat the procedure. Once the hood opens, soak the hood latch mechanism with white lithium grease. Then close and open the hood multiple times until the latch works smoothly. Apply fresh grease every year before winter.

High temperatures can significantly impact your car’s engine. Engines operate optimally within a specific temperature range, and excessive heat can reduce efficiency. Additionally, prolonged exposure to high temperatures can cause engine components to wear out more quickly, potentially leading to costly repairs. It is important to monitor your vehicle’s temperature gauge and address any overheating issues promptly to prevent damage.

They’re compact, powerful and they make an awesome noise. So why did rotary engines never really take off, and why has the concept been all but abandoned by the one manufacturer that championed it? If your vehicle catches fire, pull over as quickly as possible. When you’ve safely come to a stop, turn off the engine and get every passenger out of the car immediately. It’s recommended that everyone move to a location at least 100 feet away from the vehicle fire and clear of any traffic. Once everyone is safely away from the fire, call 911.

Most car engines should be able to idle below 1000 RPM without issues. If it needs to be higher than 1,000 in order to keep the engine running smoothly, then there might be a problem with the engine.

EVs explained: How do electric cars actually work and are they really better than traditional cars?
Intake : The piston (green) is pulled down inside the cylinder (gray) by the momentum of the crankshaft (gray wheel at the bottom). Most of the time the car is moving along, so the crankshaft is always turning. The inlet valve (left) opens, letting a mixture of fuel and air (blue cloud) into the cylinder through the purple pipe. Compression : The inlet valve closes. The piston moves back up the cylinder and compresses (squeezes) the fuel-air mixture, which makes it much more flammable. When the piston reaches the top of the cylinder, the sparking plug (yellow) fires. Power : The spark ignites the fuel-air mixture causing a mini explosion. The fuel burns immediately, giving off hot gas that pushes the piston back down. The energy released by the fuel is now powering the crankshaft. Exhaust : The outlet valve (right) opens. As the crankshaft continues to turn, the piston is forced back up the cylinder for a second time. It forces the exhaust gases (produced when the fuel burned) out through the exhaust outlet (blue pipe).

What’s causing this then? That’ll be a collapsed wheel bearing. Within your wheel hubs, onto which the wheel is bolted, there is a small bearing that allows the wheel to spin freely.
1. Failing Idle Air Control Valve (ICV)

Budget Friendly.
There’s a chance that the exhaust valve remains open while air and fuel are coming through the intake valve. This mixture goes directly through the cylinder and then gets out through the exhaust valve.

Insufficient lubrication due to low oil levels can lead to increased friction and heat generation within the engine. This, in turn, can cause accelerated wear and tear on essential components, impacting overall engine performance.

If that’s the case, you’re going to need to have the bushes replaced. Any garage can do this, and it’s not too big of a job. Just make sure you don’t ignore it. The rubber is there for a reason – metal suspension parts aren’t supposed to spend their time hitting other metal.

As you can see above, the RX-8 doesn’t stack up favourably in terms of fuel economy. The Corvette, with a significantly larger engine, 47 per cent more power, and five per cent more weight still manages 11 per cent better fuel economy. It’s also worth mentioning that this was the first model year for the RX-8, while the Corvette and GTI engines had been around from previous years. Quite simply, there’s nothing good to say about the RX-8 in terms of fuel economy. Although the buyer may not necessarily view this as a negative point, without passing emissions there is no car to buy.

Your engine's lifespan is measured in revolutions, and one way to make it last longer from behind the wheel is to watch your tachometer, especially if you drive a car with a manual transmission. While an automatic transmission vehicle will make sure to shift gears for you before you hit the redline, a lapse in attention when driving a stick shift can lead to premature engine wear and even catastrophic damage from over-revving the engine.
Take care of your car, and it’ll take care of you. The best way to prevent an overheating car engine is to have regular inspections and coolant exchanges performed on your car and stay up-to-date with radiator maintenance as recommended by your vehicle manufacturer. Routine inspections can also help you fix any potential radiator or engine issues before they worsen.
Sometimes you've got to brake when going downhill to keep from going way too fast. But this causes heat to build up in the brake pads and rotors, causing wear and increasing the risk that they will overheat or warp . As a solution, try shifting into a lower gear. The natural decompression that occurs in the drivetrain will help keep the car at a safe speed. That way, if you do need to hit the brakes, you'll find they're more effective.
Well, it's common practice for fleet departments to keep older vehicles in service. It's pretty much what Ford did with the Crown Vic for a few years. But that's not to say that the 1500 Classic is dated for special service duty.
Adjusting the nuts on the valves is a pretty straightforward job. You just have to make sure that you know what you’re looking for.

If you put too much oil in a car engine, the position can’t compress the oil, and eventually, excessive oil will make the position bend or break. By putting too much oil in a car, you can ruin a car without getting caught.
If the price tag on the car is low enough, the overall cost for the vehicle and a new engine can work out cheaper than just buying a fully working second-hand car.

Petroleum fuels are made from hydrocarbons : the molecules inside consist mostly of carbon and hydrogen atoms (with a fewer other elements, such as oxygen, attached for good measure). Wood, paper, and coal also contain hydrocarbons. We can turn hydrocarbons into useful energy simply by burning them. When you burn hydrocarbons in air, their molecules split apart. The carbon and hydrogen combine with oxygen from the air to make carbon dioxide gas and water, while the energy that held the molecules together is released as heat. This process, which is called combustion , releases huge amounts of energy. When you sit round a camp fire, warming yourself near the flames, you're really soaking up energy produced by billions of molecules cracking open and splitting apart!

While in the process of choosing and engine, I tried to pick one that looked good, but also learned about its history. I ended up looking specifically for 6 cylinders inline from BMW mainly because of the form factor (long enough and perfectly flat) but also because I like the brand, and because it’s an engine which performances were acclaimed all these years. The current generation (M54) is used in most powerful BMWs, and its sport version (S52/S54) powers the legendary M series. I ended getting really lucky on Craigslist, and found a pair of identical M52: it was produced at the end of the 90s, which is when BMW moved from cast iron blocks to aluminum, the latter being much lighter which is important, because an engine is heavy. Depending on how many parts are still in it (camshaft, pistons) it can be several hundred pounds. You will need a friend or two to help you carry it, and presumably a very sturdy dolly.

After rinsing, spray liquid cleaner on the dirty parts and agitate the underside using a sponge. Work your way from top to bottom and focus on the areas around the engine (the non-covered bits), spraying the cleaner as you wipe with a sponge. Every car enthusiast feels the temptation for a full-throttle blast every once in a while. A problem with that is that you usually need to mash on the brakes to slow back down. Neither is good for your car. Hard acceleration burns a ton of fuel (ok, maybe not for a Tesla) and places heavy load on drivetrain components. Full-force stops cause rapid wear to the brake pads and rotors . Resist the urge to drive like this. If you can't, know that repair bills will arrive sooner than later.

When it comes to your vehicle’s cooling system, think of the radiator as the command center. A coolant and water mixture are constantly circulated from the radiator to the engine to absorb excess heat. Then, when the coolant returns to the radiator, it uses a series of fins to cool down and extract heat out of the coolant/water mixture.

Ideally, sludge won’t form at all; however, sometimes mechanical issues arise, such as a leaking head gasket, and the formation of sludge occurs.
The CVPI came with many heavy-duty components, including a revised transmission and a beefed-up V8 engine. Both generations were powered by the iconic 4.6-liter "Modular" V8. Initially rated at 215 horsepower, the lump came with 235 horses on tap in 2001. Ford upgraded the mill to 239 horsepower in 2003 and 250 horses in 2004. The Crown Vic hit 60 mph in less than eight seconds and peaked at 129 mph (208 kph). Its top speed was electronically limited.

The Problem With Rotary Engines: Engineering Explained.
Older types of temperature gauge used a direct linkage between the sensor and the gauge. The sensor unit is a bulb containing a fluid with a low boiling point and is coupled to the gauge by a fine metal capillary tube. As the sensor warms up, the fluid vaporizes , so increasing the pressure in the bulb. This pressure is transmitted through the capillary tube to the gauge where it acts on a. bourdon tube , which straightens out under pressure to move the indicator needle. The drawback of this design is that the gauge, sensor and tube have to remain as one unit, meaning that the entire length of the tube has to be threaded through the dashboard during fitment. In addition, the exposed capillary tube can easily be damaged, and when this happens the complete assembly has to be replaced.
You could spray paint the windows so they won’t be able to see through it… and if you wanna be even more of an A-hole about it… leave a note on their car saying “Lovvvvvvee the new window tint job!!” 04/02/2016 - 08:23 |

The Smithsonian Automobile Collection in the Division of Work and Industry at the National Musuem of American History contains around 80 full-size automobiles. The automobile collection attempts to include significant automotive milestones as cars changed from horseless carriages to an intrinsic part of American life. The Smithsonian has been collecting cars since 1899, and almost all of them have been given by people or businesses.

Putting Coca-Cola into the gas tank is one way to ruin a car engine completely. But it depends on the amount of soft drink in the car gas tank. Not only Coca-Cola, but any soft drink pouring a significant amount into the gas tank can also ruin your car engine completely.

Another thing that diesel owners should do when they get a check-up is to have their fluid levels checked. This includes checking the coolant/antifreeze level in their radiator along with making sure that there's enough power steering fluid in the system and enough brake fluid to stop the vehicle when necessary. The reason diesel engines can be so difficult to start when they're cold is that there's a lot of pressure involved in the system, and if any one of these fluids runs low or completely disappears, then you'll have some problems starting up your vehicle until it's refilled.
Engines can overheat for many reasons. In general, it's because something's wrong within the cooling system and heat isn't able to escape the engine compartment. The source of the issue could include a cooling system leak, bad radiator fan, faulty water pump, low engine oil level, or thermostat failure. Regardless of the problem's source, an overheating engine isn't something you want to let linger. Your engine could sustain serious, if not permanent, damage.

What’s important to realise is that unlike in a piston cylinder engine, within a single rotor housing all of these events are occurring nearly simultaneously. This means that while intake is occurring on one portion of the rotor, a power stroke is also occurring, leading to a very smooth power delivery and a large amount of power in a small package.

How much is a car with a blown engine worth?
That's not to say that cars (and their engines) are perfect—or anything like. There are lots of steps and stages in between the cylinders (where energy is released) and the wheels (where power is applied to the road) and, at each stage, some energy is wasted. For that reason, in the worst cases, as little as 15 percent or so of the energy that was originally in the fuel you burn actually moves you down the road. Or, to put it another way, for every dollar you put in your gas tank, 85 cents are wasted in various ways!

Often in engineering, the simplest solution tends to be one of the best solutions. The rotary engine drastically reduces the number of parts required for combustion to occur, with just three main components spinning in a two-rotor motor.
